Tenth Birthday Celebrations
The Leonard Cheshire International Training and Development office (T&D) in the East and North African region was established in 1998 to provide a range of professional support and resources to the Leonard Cheshire Services and partners in the region, helping them to extend and improve their work with disabled people. The office with its headquarters in Nairobi supported Cheshire partners in Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
From its humble beginnings, the T&D office has grown into an expanded regional programme to include Morocco, Rwanda and the Seychelles. Our main areas of intervention have been streamlined and as part of the Leonard Cheshire Global Alliance, we support people with disabilities in their efforts to secure education, livelihoods, health care and active community participation. We also campaign to change attitudes to disability around the world.
In this our tenth year in the region the management and staff of Leonard Cheshire Disability East and North African Region would like to thank all our partners for their continued support and invite them to join in our celebration of this momentous year.
