Ethiopia
Ethiopia is the poorest country in the region and is ranked 170th out of 177 countries on the United Nations Human Development Index. Life expectancy is around 47 years according to the United Nations.
In 2003 it was estimated that there were six million disabled people in Ethiopia, representing 7.6% of the population. According to a survey on disability, 60% of disabled people in the country were unemployed. Educational attainment was 34% among boys and 19% among girls.
Laws and regulations exist protecting disability rights but there are no specific statements or articles.
