National Cheshire Services in Morocco
There are four Cheshire Services in Morocco which provide physical rehabilitation, education and vocational training and workshops.
Projects
Education
The Dar el Hana Cheshire Home accommodates 43 children and adolescents who are orphans, from deprived families or who have physical disabilities, and provides them with on-site schooling and access to mainstream education through alliances with local primary schools.
The Basmaat Al Amal Cheshire Centre provides day care support for disabled children between the ages of one and twelve years old.
Economic empowerment
The Dar el Hana Home also provides craft apprenticeships and professional training schemes for the youngsters in its care.
Health and rehabilitation
Facilities at the Dar el Hana Cheshire Home include dormitories, workshops, a basketball court and a small swimming pool. At the Cheshire L’Association d’Aide aux Enfants Handicapes de Meknes (AEHM) day care centre staff work closely with disabled childrens' families to meet each child's individual psychological, physical and social needs. The centre specialises in physiotherapy and orthopaedic equipment.
Community-based support
The Centre Koutoubia is a day care community based rehabilitation centre which welcomes any young children (from seven months to 12-years old) with severe disabilities. Its goal is to promote disabled children’s early development and integration into family and society. The community centre provides an opportunity for the parents and families to meet. Many of the children who attend the centre attend primary school or kindergarten.
