Rwanda is ranked 161st out of 177 countries on the Human Development Index. The country has been greatly affected by the genocide in 1994, rebel insurgency in 1997-98 and HIV/Aids.

Leonard Cheshire Disability has partnered with the Muramba Cheshire Services since September 2006 to provide education, rehabilitation and social support for children and young adults with disabilities.

We work in the Muramba area which is located in the western region of Rwanda. The “Muramba Village”, located in the Ngororero district brings together several small villages within the boundaries of the Muramba Parish for social development purposes.
