Tanzania
Tanzania is ranked 162nd out of 177 countries on the United Nations Human Development Index with a life expectancy of just 45.9 years.
At the time of the 2002 Population and Housing census, Tanzania was estimated to have 3,346,900 disabled people. Services such as health, education and employment opportunities are scarce and are greatly affected by the unfavourable economic situation in Tanzania.
The National Disability Policy was enacted by the parliament in 2004.
