Young Voices Speak out
Leonard Cheshire Disability with support of the European Union is working with young persons with disabilities aged between 16 and 25 to contribute to the signing, ratification and implementation of the UN CRPD in the target countries through strengthening the capacity of young disabled people to be active citizens and participate fully in civil society action on decision making. The implementation of the Convention will result in improvements in the human rights and living conditions of people with disabilities across the world.
The project seeks to empower young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to understand their rights, to become empowered to demand change, and to advocate effectively, leading to positive changes in the attitudes of duty bearers and eventually to the implementation of the UN Convention in the target countries.
The Young Voices project provides a place for young people with disabilities to meet and share their experiences, and trains them in the skills they need to challenge attitudes to disability in their communities and to plan and execute campaigns pushing for the ratification of the Convention.
